Who We Are

Capel Ed is a church based in Penperlleni, near Pontypool in South Wales. We believe that God the Father has made Jesus the Head of the Church and reveals His will for to us through His Spirit.

What Belonging to Capel Ed Means

As people who belong to the Capel Ed Church Family we seek to live as Jesus did and to love and care for each other. We welcome people of all cultures and backgrounds who love Jesus and desire to follow him to be part of our Church Family.

Our vision: To see lives and community transformed as we follow Jesus together

As members of the Church Family of Capel Ed, we believe that God is calling us to serve Him here in this church and this community. We desire to see the vision God has given us become a reality. We commit to walking with God and by His grace, through the power of His Spirit, to seeing this vision fulfilled among us.

As a treasured family member, I will strive:

To reach up - committing to whole-life discipleship

To reach in - loving and serving others as Kingdom people

To reach out - joining in God’s mission to His world

I will therefore seek to:

  • Pray regularly that I might build a stronger relationship with God my Father: praising; giving thanks; saying sorry; asking for help; interceding for others. (1 Thessalonians 1:1-2; Ephesians 3:14-19)

  • Honour God, by the power of the Spirit, in my ordinary everyday life. (Philippians 1:22; Galatians 2:20)

  • Faithfully meet together with the Church Family. (Hebrews 10:25)

  • Be a servant of other family members, using the resources with which God has blessed me (time, energy, money). (1 Corinthians 16:2; 2 Corinthians 9:7-12; Philippians 2:3-4)

  • Recognise and use the gifts that the Holy Spirit has given me, to bless my Church Family and to be involved in what God is doing in His world. (1 Peter 4:10; Ephesians 4:11-12)

  • Communicate blessings, trials and thanks with the aim of building up the Church Family, and guard against damaging gossip, which can cause disillusionment, by sharing concerns with the Church leadership. (Ephesians 4:29)

  • Love and submit to other members of my Church Family and to express that love in thought, word and deed. (1 Peter 1:22; 1 Corinthians 13, Ephesians 5:21)

  • Warmly welcome all visitors and new family members. (Romans 15:7)

  • Recognise the leaders, to pray that the Lord will guide them, and to submit to them as they faithfully serve our family with humility to further God’s purposes for us. (Hebrews 13:17,1 Peter 5:1-5)

In addition those in leadership at Capel Ed will strive prayerfully and with God’s help and wonderful grace:

  • To prayerfully seek God’s will and purpose for our Church Family. (Acts 2:42)

  • To regularly and clearly communicate this God-given vision and direction to the Church Family and to listen to what God is saying through all Family members.

  • To provide effective pastoral care for all in our Church Family and seek her growth in grace, truth and love. (1 Peter 5:1-4)

  • To teach the Church from the whole of Scripture. (2 Timothy 4:1-2)

  • To guard against false teachers and false doctrine. (Acts 20:28-31)

  • To equip Church members for the work the Lord has called them to do and to provide opportunities and encouragement for their gifts to be developed and used. (Ephesians 4:11-16)

  • To set a positive example to Church Family members. (Philippians 3:17)

  • To lovingly exercise discipline when necessary for the glory of God, the restoration of the one disciplined, and the health of the Church Family. (Galatians 6:1)
